Dear Friends,
I need to make cad files out of the object file extracted from k3dsurf software. I need this cad model to do finite element analysis and also 3d printing. Is anyone here familiar with making solid cad model out of obj file.
Thanks,
Rasoo |

Hi,
For a detailed description of the 3D printing process, you can take a look on that free pdf book: http://sdu.ictp.it/3d/book/Low-cost_3D_printing_screen.pdf
What I know about 3D printed objects from the K3DSurf generated .OBJ files: if the mesh represents a non closed surfaces (like a sphere for example) then you have to give it some "thickness" . For this you have to use some available programs like Blender. After that step, softwares that came with the 3D printer should be able to process your modified OBJ files.
For the finite element analysis, you will probably need to edit the original generated mesh (look for MeshMan, MeshLab...) to make it suitable for your analysis. _________________ Cheers,
