Hi all,
Welcome texasnoise in this forum.
To export an .obj file, see the image bellow, the K3DSurf's tool you need is indicated with a Red color.

Hi,
Are you sure the name of your exported OBJ file is correct? ( it should have the extention ".obj" at the end like "sh.obj") _________________ Cheers,

Hi,
I'm using MeshMan to test the generated OBJ files and never got this kind of messages. Maybe you should test your OBJ files with it to see if this problem is specific to xsi. _________________ Cheers,

can you send this OBJ file by email. I'll check what's going wrong with it. _________________ Cheers,

OK. I know from where the problem is comming...just click on the button "Compute" before generating the obj file and things should be OK. The first image that show up on K3dSurf is a special case. You should use at least once the "Compute" button before generating any OBJ file. _________________ Cheers,

That should be a "zooming" problem in xsi when looding the OBJ files...An OBJ files loader should be able to show correctly the mesh by detecting it's limits in the 3D space. Unfortunately, I can't specify a special OBJ file for every program _________________ Cheers,

The 'how to' image is missing, to export an obj go iso surface options/export/
resolution/optimisation, make sure 'save file as' is blank, click the big
edit button, you'll get a text editor with a list of the vertices, save as 'myobject.obj' Loads in Blender 2.48 and 2.5. |

You Should try to import it back in to maya, to confirm that the obj file exported properly , into a new scene to see if it comes in.
If it does come in, then its possible that the issue is on the other applications side that you are importing into.
Another thing to check is the Placement and Scale of the object. Sometimes importing a mesh into another software will set the mesh out in space (not centered on the grid) or the scale may be really large or small. _________________ Practice Math _ | Math Addition |
