Does the mac version actually work?

The icon just bounces once and closes on my mac running os x 10.4.8

Is there an installation guide?

PPC or Intel ? Anyway you should install Qt3 from Trolltech that is required to run K3DSurf ...

No, you should just install Qt, depending on your configuration

(1) http://naranja.umh.es/~atg/QtMac335-Mini-Panther.pkg.zip

(2) http://naranja.umh.es/~atg/QtMac335-Mini-Tiger.pkg.zip

(3) http://naranja.umh.es/~atg/Intel/QtMac336-Mini-Intel.zip

(1) is for PPC machines / Panther (10.3.x)
(2) is for PPC machines / Tiger (10.4.x)
(3) is for Intel machines / Tiger (10.4.x)

So, in your case, it's either (2) or (3) depending if your machine type is PPC or Intel.

All should work fine, when one of these required packages is installed, according to your machine and operating system.

Regards,

I followed the instructions written previously (downloading QT etc.) and am experiencing the same problems. I use a Intel MacBookPro with the OSX 10.4.8

Then you should have installed the Qt library, didn't you ?

That means unpack the archive ZIP file, to obtain a DMG disk image. Then click on the DMG image and install the Qt library from its package (located in the DMG) with a regular installation process that requires the root password.

If you haven't properly installed Qt, there's no reason that it work, and K3DSurf can't be launched.

If you're familiar with MacOSX, you can even look and see what's written in the OSX console history that is located in the OSX information box, asking for more information about your Mac computer.

Regards,

I also have the same problem:

I have a brand new (intel) Mac Pro running 10.4.9. I downloaded and installed QtMac336-Mini-Intel.zip and then installed K3dsurf but the App does not start.

After reading some in the ATG website, I think that maybe the right QT to be installed is the QtMac335-Mini-Tiger.pkg.zip even though it is not native intel.

My question is if I need to uninstall QtMac336-Mini-Intel first to avoid conflicts, and if so, how can I uninstall it.

Thank you very much

I don't have such a machine. K3DSurf is built on my own PPC machine ATM.

Thanks for the advice. It will definitely be a good advice for Mac OS X users. You may have precised that it is available there http://naranja.umh.es/~atg/Intel/QtMac336-Mini-Intel.zip

Well ... I don't really know, because I never needed to uninstall Qt myself ?

I hope it'll help Smile

I am developing an application with Qt as well, and I found a script on the qtnode wiki that allows you to embed the necessary qt frameworks into the app bundle with this script:

http://qtnode.net/wiki?title=Distributing_Mac_Qt_applications

This script is for qt4, but I'm sure it could be modified for qt3. It would be really great not to require users on OS/X to download and install qt3.

perhaps this will help as well:

I'm sorry, but your proposal about this Qt4 script is not simple to use.

My development machine is a dual-G4@1.25GHz with Mac OS X 10.3.9 (Panther).

If somebody is ready to maintain K3DSurf, and do it better than I do it myself, he is welcome Wink

I have no real interest to do it myself, except it can help in the project, and Taha who is a really kind person.

Please contact the main author if you think you can help in K3DSurf project.
