Ok, this is gorgeous. Excelent job, Torolf!!!
I also like the coral thingy. Once I test my render on solid opaque objects I can try to render it with real shape, not just a texture. The problem is with multiple reflections inside those little holes. That is gonna take a lot of rays.
This is one of my development renders. It's not that beautiful, so I'm not presenting it as art, however it's a nice study. The background is also a fractal. 2D on a spherical surface but only in two iterations. More iterations doesn't look that good.

A question please.
Have you contruct your cmc cylinder with K3dsurf ?
and you make a picture of rattlesnake torus , page 7, of your tread.
It's made with K3dsurf?
When you look, it is the question.
and also for 3DSurG
when i export a model on DXF format , it's not work.
the model is false. 
I TRY WITH ASCII.txt, but what kind of software open this format?
