my dear, this kneeling figure is phantastic. Thank you very much!

How do you get these formulas? As a mathematician you are familiar with them, but nevertheless, the beauty of the resulting sculpture surprises me again and again. Do you experiment, or do you have an approach with an intention, with an idea what values and what functions will "bend" the shape into new interesting forms?
